GIC undertakes integrated sustainability studies addressing the unique developmental challenges of both urban and rural ecosystems. Our approach recognizes that sustainable development must bridge infrastructure, ecology, and social equity—whether in densely populated cities or remote rural villages. GIC focuses on urban environmental planning through the assessment of infrastructure, waste management systems, water and sanitation services, green cover, and climate resilience strategies to promote environmentally sustainable cities.
We also develop rural sustainability models through holistic, community-led interventions that improve resource efficiency, strengthen local livelihoods, and maintain ecological balance in rural regions. Our work includes sustainable land use and habitat studies where we evaluate land-use patterns, urban expansion, and rural land degradation to recommend optimized land utilization strategies and sustainable zoning frameworks. In addition, GIC conducts climate risk and vulnerability mapping in urban slums and vulnerable rural areas using GIS-based tools, spatial analysis, and field-level surveys. We further support policy and governance analysis by reviewing policy frameworks, identifying institutional gaps, and strengthening governance models for better planning and decision-making. All initiatives are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), and Climate Action (SDG 13).
