Urban and Rural Sustainability Studies focus on addressing the unique developmental challenges of both urban and rural ecosystems. GIC undertakes integrated sustainability studies that bridge infrastructure, ecology, and social equity to promote balanced and inclusive development in densely populated cities as well as remote rural communities.
Our work includes urban environmental planning through the assessment of infrastructure, waste management systems, water and sanitation services, green cover, and climate resilience strategies. We also develop rural sustainability models through community-led initiatives that enhance resource efficiency, strengthen local livelihoods, and maintain ecological balance. In addition, our studies cover sustainable land use and habitat planning, climate risk and vulnerability mapping using GIS-based tools and field surveys, and policy and governance analysis to support evidence-based decision-making. All initiatives are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
